About

Research Background

I received my PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, in 2019 under the mentorship of Drs. Charles Perfetti and Natasha Tokowicz within the Learning Research and Development Center. At Pitt, I used encephalography (EEG) and event-related potentials (ERPs) to investigate predictive and integrative processing related to reading comprehension. I also used ERPs to investigate vocabulary and grammar learning of Swedish, modulated by musical ability.  Using behavioral methods, I looked at how people form new semantic associations depending on existing background knowledge and memory formation of novel animals.

In 2019, as a Research Associate at the University of Maryland's Applied Research Laboratory of Intelligence and Security (ARLIS), I worked with an interdisciplinary team investigating the effects of transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) on attention and second language acquisition of Indonesian, Polish, and Chinese tones.

As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Maryland's Center for Comparative and Evolutionary Biology of Hearing, I managed a team in developing a behavioral intervention to improve older adults' hearing. We use magnetoencephalography (MEG), pupillometry, and behavioral measures to assess changings in hearing ability.

Currently, I am Human Systems Engineer at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab and leverage my research background in human performance, data analytics, and user experience (UX) design.

Personal Life

When I'm not working, I can be found reading a book, unwinding by doing some kickboxing, or relaxing with yin yoga. I enjoy traveling to different countries and believe food is the best gateway into understanding someone else's culture. I'm currently testing out my green thumb and have been adopting new plants to encourage positive energy.

I am fascinated by how much we can discover and build as humans, and love reading sci-fi books. My top series are Remembrance of Earth's Past by Liu Cixin and The Expanse by James S. A. Corey.
